Saturday 20 September 2025, Riverstone Dolphins Technical Officials Michael Tuohy, Craig Miller, Michelle Mandl and Maddy Hand proudly represented Riverstone Dolphins at the Annual Swimming Metro North West Presentation evening.
The night was a fantastic celebration of swimmer achievement in the region, with some incredible records broken by some up and coming swimmers!
Keynote speaker at the event was the fantastic Australian Open Waster specialist Tayla Martin, Australian Dolphin #874.

Tayla spoke to the audience about her experiences moving from pool swimming to being an open water specialist. The initial challenge for her in the open water transition, was not having a black line to follow in the open water. Tayla’s first open water swim in western Sydney was at the Regatta Centre in Penrith. A very different open water environment to Tayla’s favourite place she has swum in 2025- The Red Sea in Egypt!
Tayla described her Red Sea, 2025 World Open Water Cup, as the best race she has ever had. The water was crystal clear and stunning and everything about the race went right.
When asked about her favourite music to think of whilst she is training, Tayla makes sure it is whatever music is popular at the time that has a beat count over 153 bbm.
A great tip for training from one of Australia’s swimming great! Thank you for your time and generosity Tayla.
